ENVIRONMENTAL POLICY AND RESPONSIBILITY

Over time, the group has kept an ongoing focus on the environmental impact of its production activities, although they cannot be considered high risk.
Nevertheless, its risk and compliance analyses (see RISK MANAGEMENT AND COMPLIANCE) and analysis of compliance with standards on safety in the workplace (see HUMAN RESOURCES AND SAFETY IN THE WORKPLACE) have progressively lent more structure to the analysis process and the prevention of potential risks.
This process is fully based on principles whereby companies are required to:

  • take a preventative approach to environmental issues;
  • implement initiatives that promote greater environmental responsibility;
  • encourage the development and widespread use of environmentally-friendly technologies.

In this respect, the group has always made compliance with environmental protection legislation a crucial issue and has always treated it as an opportunity to instil a company culture that includes the understanding that sustainability should be considered as part of the value of economic activity and products and services.
Over the last two years, the procedure to obtain the ISO 14001:2015 and OHSAS18011:2007 certifications was completed for the Italian sites of Borgomanero (Novara), Monteprandone (Ascoli Piceno) and the Rome site.
Although the environmental impact of the group companies’ activities is limited, the group has an overall reporting system last year to gather statistical data and indicators on the environmental impact of its activities, as summarised herein.
